At least two years’ experience in plant maintenance required and/or any combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Regularly completes necessary Preventive Maintenance tasks as required. Inspects and tests pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, air compressors, dewatering equipment, sludge removal equipment, tanks, mixers, trash screens, vacuum systems, oil accumulator systems, chemical feed equipment, filters and controls, HVAC systems. Safely uses equipment and tools to perform maintenance on equipment, including but not limited to drill press, grinders, hand tools, power tools, welders, cutting torches, saws, etc. Troubleshoots and evaluates devices to test performance. Dismantles, cleans, lubricates, repair and replaces shafts, bearings, gears, impellers, and other parts of pumps, motors, chemical feed systems and other equipment. Lays out, assembles, installs and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. Adjusts functional parts of devices and equipment. Dismantles equipment to gain access and to remove and replace defective parts. Responds to equipment failures and performs repair on equipment. Performs skilled work in the maintenance of water treatment equipment as directed and scheduled under the leadership of the Plant Maintenance Mechanic II.
